Today our focus will be on developing an awareness of the culture we live in. It may be helpful to reflect on things in culture that has changed. Ask for a greater awareness of how the world is changing. You could pray about ways you may have grown cynical or cold about how culture is changing. It may also be helpful to pray for a heart of acceptance rather than resistance of the changing culture. Pray for wisdom in how you interact with culture that builds bridges. Pray to be salt and light amidst a changing landscape.
1 Corinthians 9:19-21: Even though I am free of the demands and expectations of everyone, I have voluntarily become a servant to any and all in order to reach a wide range of people: religious, nonreligious, meticulous moralists, loose-living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized—whoever. I didn’t take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ—but I entered their world and tried to experience things from their point of view.
Father, I pray for increased awareness of culture and the world around me. Help me to position myself in a way that I can be a part of culture and learn from it while honoring You in the process. Give me wisdom as I do this. In areas of the world around me where I have grown cold or cynical I pray that you work in me to soften me. I pray for a heart of acceptance rather than resistance to our changing culture. As culture and the world around me changes grant me wisdom in how to interact effectively with others in a way that builds bridges.
