Focus for Today: Today find a quiet place to focus. Take some time and be silent listening for God to speak to you. Begin by reflecting on your prayer journey throughout these 21 days. You could begin by praying briefly about your role in how God wants to use you to impact the community around you. Consider walking around your neighborhood or visit a park in your community as you pray and listen to God today. Continue to pray for your “One.” Also consider praying that your love for people would increase more and more!
Daily Scripture: 1 John 4:19: Our love for others is our grateful response to the love God first demonstrated to us.
Prayer Example: Father, I thank you for this 21-day prayer journey and your work in my life through this time. Guide me in the days and weeks ahead to continue to connect with you and to continue seeking You through prayer. I pray for my community that I live in and how You desire to use me to impact it. Guide me and direct me to use the gifts and talents You have given to me for the needs of others in my community and to develop a heart of love and compassion that reflects Your heart for people. Empower me to invest intentionally in “my one” and others around me. Direct my thoughts and my mind as I seek You in this. (Take some time to be silent before God). Thank you God, for Your work in my life! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Daily Focus: Today our focus will be on God’s Kingdom. Consider praying that as followers of Jesus we would submit to God’s will and reign in our own hearts and lives. Reflect on ways you can more fully welcome God’s kingdom in your own heart, also in your actions and ultimately in your allegiance. Reflect on areas of your life you still need to surrender to God and more freely follow Jesus. Consider praying also that the spiritual reality of God’s kingdom would become a physical reality.
Daily Scripture: Matthew 6:9-10: Our Father, dwelling in the heavenly realms, may the glory of your name be the center on which our lives turn. Manifest your kingdom realm, band cause your every purpose to be fulfilled on earth, just as it is fulfilled in heaven.
Prayer Example: Father, I thank you for Your work in my life. I continue to surrender to You every part of my life where I am still trying to maintain control. I pray to be more open to Your presence in my own heart. I pray that my actions would reflect You and Your will. I pray that my allegiance would be to You alone. I pray also that You would increase my awareness of Your Kingdom and how I can live my life more fully for it.
Take Action: You may want to take some time to understand what the Kingdom of God means. This article will help you understand what it is and your place in it.
Daily Focus: Today our focus will be on our city/community we live in. You could pray for specific neighbors who live around you. You can also pray for leaders of the city. Consider praying for ways you can bless the city/community you are a part of. Consider praying for unity. Consider praying for your own influence within the city you live as well as ways to serve others. Also consider praying for people in your city and community who don’t know Jesus yet and steps they can take toward finding and following Him.
Daily Scripture: 2 Peter 3:9: The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
Prayer Example: God, today I pray for my city. I believe that You have planted me in this community on purpose. I pray for my neighbors who live around me as well as the city leaders to seek You and Your wisdom for their lives. Help me to have a selfless heart and generous hands. Show me opportunities to bless my city and the people around me. Give us unity as well as peace and prosperity. Help me to trust in Your strength and Your guidance so that everyone around me will see Your faithfulness and how good You are. I pray that You reveal to me ways I can serve others within my city and influence them toward You. I pray for those in my city who don’t know Your Son Jesus and that You would soften their hearts and help them take a step toward You.
Take Action: Consider visiting your local city hall or other civic/city building and praying over the city from this location.
Daily Focus: Today our focus will be on your own role and purpose in the mission Jesus gave us to invest intentionally in others. It may be helpful to reflect on your passions, spiritual gifts, and other talents God has given You to use toward this. Is there something specific you feel God is calling You to do in the world around You? A particular group of people God may be calling You to invest more intentionally in? A segment of society God is calling You toward? It may also be helpful not to get too hung up on a specific purpose for your life but to focus more fully on your role in God’s larger mission of helping people find and follow Jesus. You could pray for greater clarity and discernment. Also consider praying for courage and boldness to take steps toward this purpose.
Daily Scripture: Matthew 28:19-20: Now go in my authority and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And teach them to faithfully follow all that I have commanded you. And never forget that I am with you every day, even to the completion of this age.
Prayer Example: Father, I pray for my role and purpose in helping people find and follow You. I pray for any specific role You are calling me toward in the world, segments of society and groups of people around me. Above all, I pray that I can be more effective in the larger role You have given all of us to help people find and follow You. Give me wisdom in how I can use the unique abilities, passions, talents and gifts You have given me to invest intentionally in others. As I go forward, help me to live my life in a way that is more about You than it is about me. I ask that You continue Your work in me so those I invest in see more of You and less of me.
Take Action: Take some time to reflect on today’s reading and journal your thoughts on what you feel God may be challenging you to do.
Daily Focus: Today spend some time praying for your family, friends and those within your circle of influence who do not yet know Jesus. You could begin by praying that they would come to know Jesus and His love for them. Pray that God would soften their hearts to be open and receptive to God’s love for them. You could also ask for wisdom in how to interact with them in a way that influences them toward Jesus. Also consider praying for other people to come into their lives who can point them toward Jesus and His love for them. Consider praying about one person within your circle of influence you can intentionally invest in.
Daily Scripture: Matthew 18:12-14: If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn’t wander away! In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father’s will that even one of these little ones should perish.
Prayer Example: Father, I thank you for my family, friends, loved ones and all others in my circle of influence who do not yet know You. Soften their hearts to be open and receptive to who You are and Your love for them. I pray each one of them would take a step toward finding and following You. Give me wisdom in my interactions with them to help point them toward You. Use me in a way that influences them toward You and Your love for them. I ask that You place others in their lives who can help influence them toward Christ and understanding His love for them. Lead me toward at least 1 person whom I can invest intentionally in.
Take Action: Reflect on the list of names you created on Day 8. Are there any names you can add to this list to continue to regularly pray for would find and follow Jesus? If you have not already written down the name of “your one”. Make a commitment to regularly pray for “your one”.
Daily Focus: Today our focus will be on developing a heart for people who don’t know Jesus. Consider fasting today as you pray for people who don’t know Jesus. It may be helpful to reflect on where your heart is currently for people to find and follow Jesus. Are there people in your life you have given up on or people you feel may be too far-gone to find Jesus? You can begin by praying that God would break your heart for people who don’t know Him. Consider praying for a continued softness of heart for others. Pray that your love for people would reflect God’s love for people.
Daily Scripture: Luke 15:8-10: Or imagine a woman who has ten coins and loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and scour the house, looking in every nook and cranny until she finds it? And when she finds it you can be sure she’ll call her friends and neighbors: ‘Celebrate with me! I found my lost coin!’ Count on it—that’s the kind of party God’s angels throw every time one sinner turns toward God.
Prayer Example: Father, I thank You for Your heart for people. All people. Including those who do not know Jesus yet. I thank You for drawing me into a relationship with You through Jesus and I pray others can experience Your love for them as well. I ask that You continue to break my heart for people who don’t know You. I pray for people I have given up on, people who I feel are too lost to find You. Continue to soften my heart for everyone who is disconnected from You. I ask for increased wisdom in helping people around me take steps toward trusting a Christian. Help me to be more aware and discerning in my interactions with those around me and to assess if I am making it harder or easier to influence them toward You!
Take Action: Consider fasting in some manner throughout the day today. You can use this link to learn more about what fasting consists of: fasting
Daily Focus Prayer not only consists of speaking to God, but also in being still and silent to listen for His voice. Today take some time to listen for God to speak to you about what He wants you to do in response to your time in prayer this week and that you would grow more in your faith by taking a step and get more involved in areas you can. Pray briefly about your role in the mission and ministries of The Ridge and what He wants to do through us collectively in this season and beyond. Then find a quiet place to focus. Finally take some time and be silent listening for God to speak to you. Consider sitting in your car for a few minutes before the service you usually attend (or after) in silence seeking God about this.
Daily Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:27: Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
Prayer Example: Father, I come before You today and submit my will to Your will. I seek You and Your voice of wisdom in my life. I pray for Your guidance and direction in my own role in the mission and ministries of The Ridge and what You want to do through us collectively in this season and beyond. Help me to clear my thoughts, my own voice, and the noises around me to focus completely on You and Your presence with me. (Several minutes of silence) …Thank You God, In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
Take Action: If you are still unsure what the next step in your spiritual journey is, please stop by the Next Steps area at either the Greenfield or Oak Creek campus and talk with a Next Step Connector about potential steps you can take.
Daily Focus: Today our focus will be on developing an awareness of the culture we live in. It may be helpful to reflect on things in culture that has changed. Ask for a greater awareness of how the world is changing. You could pray about ways you may have grown cynical or cold about how culture is changing. It may also be helpful to pray for a heart of acceptance rather than resistance of the changing culture. Pray for wisdom in how you interact with culture that builds bridges. Pray to be salt and light amidst a changing landscape.
Daily Scripture: 1 Corinthians 9:19-21: Even though I am free of the demands and expectations of everyone, I have voluntarily become a servant to any and all in order to reach a wide range of people: religious, nonreligious, meticulous moralists, loose-living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized—whoever. I didn’t take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ—but I entered their world and tried to experience things from their point of view.
Prayer Example: Father, I pray for increased awareness of culture and the world around me. Help me to position myself in a way that I can be a part of culture and learn from it while honoring You in the process. Give me wisdom as I do this. In areas of the world around me where I have grown cold or cynical I pray that you work in me to soften me. I pray for a heart of acceptance rather than resistance to our changing culture. As culture and the world around me changes grant me wisdom in how to interact effectively with others in a way that builds bridges.
Daily Focus: Today we will focus on praying for next steps those who attend The Ridge will take in this season. You could continue to pray that God would help people step out of their comfort zones to connect in community. You could also continue to pray about steps people will take in leadership and in serving. It may also be helpful to reflect on what your next step in your relationship with Jesus may be in this season. You could also pray that The Ridge would be fruitful in its role of helping people find and follow Jesus.
Daily Scripture: Ephesians 2:10: For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Prayer Example: Lord, help us to be a church that makes disciples. Give us wisdom to help people take their next step with You. We know that it is Your will that people be part of a church community (Ephesians 2:19). Help us to partner with people to help them find their purpose and make a difference. Let this be a place where people are welcomed with love and can find their God-given purpose! I ask that You continue to reveal to me what my next step is in my relationship with You.
Take Action: Consider memorizing the daily scripture from today and repeating it throughout the day/week. You can even interact with us by posting a video of you repeating it!
Daily Focus: Today take some time to pray for the various ministries of The Ridge Community Church and the people who connect with these ministry areas as well as the steps they will take in their faith journey through these. Ministry areas include, Guest Services, Arts, Ridge Groups, Engagement, Next Steps, Compassion, Ridge Kids, Ridge Students, Ridge Families, Online Campus, Facilities, Care, Prayer, Celebrate Recovery, etc. If you serve on one of these ministry teams, pray for people you generally serve along with by name. If you do not serve on a ministry team pray about which team you can best use the gifts and talents God has given you. Pray that your loved ones would come to The Ridge and experience these ministry areas for themselves and take steps to find and follow Jesus.
Daily Scripture: Romans 12:6-8: In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well…If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
Prayer Example: Father, I come before You today and pray for the various ministry areas of The Ridge. I pray for each ministry area and the people who will be impacted by each of them this season. I pray that as a result they would take steps in their faith journey with You. I pray for those whom I serve alongside in my own ministry area and that You would renew our passion for serving You with the gifts and talents you have entrusted to each of us. Finally, I pray for my family and loved ones as well as others I have been investing in that they would come to The Ridge and experience these ministry areas for themselves and begin to find and follow Jesus as a result. May Your love and Your heart for people drive the way we serve and connect with others in each ministry area! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
